Deborah Halpern’s not for profit charitable trust contributes annually to a number of community organisations.

Halpern is also great contributor to community projects. The eye-catching nature of her work can be seen dotted around the City of Melbourne in particular. Deborah’s contributions add vibrancy and aliveness to their homes which can be enjoyed by all.

Some of her most recent community projects include the the 2012 ‘Mali’ sculpture which was commissioned by the City of Melbourne to commemorate the 150-year Celebrations of Melbourne Zoo which was featured outside the Melbourne Town Hall. In 2013, she was commissioned by the Victorian Government for an art project with the Fitzroy Housing Commission, three sculptures were created. In 2009, Deborah worked with the school community of Urquhart Park Primary School in Ballarat, Victoria to create a large community art piece to reside at the school.

There’s nothing quite like a Deborah Halpern piece.

PROCESS

The commission process requires a great deal of collaboration up-front. Once under way, your level of involvement is up to you.

Here is an overview of the process:

1. IMAGE: You will brief Deborah on your own goals and requirements. Deborah will create a visual strip showcasing 3-5 potential compositions and send them to you via email for review and approval.

2. INFORMATION: Simultaneously, we will send you an email questionnaire to gather more information about the piece we are creating.

3. SOURCING: If your commission involves collage, I will email you a visual layout of the proposed collage composition, with a detailed explanation of each element for your review and approval.

4. CREATION: Once the composition is chosen, and (if applicable) the collage elements are approved, Deborah will begin creating.

5. UPDATES: You can choose to receive frequent visual updates by email throughout the process.

6. APPROVAL: Deborah will send a visual preview of your painting for approval, prior to signing.

7. RECAP: For providence and artistic integrity, depending on the commission, the completed process may be outlined in-depth, featuring photos, commentary and a time lapse video that may also be shared for media interest.
